Join us for our new acting workshop Building Tension and Raising Stakes: Using Horror Narratives to Build Exciting Performances. In this new 3-week course, we will use excerpts from exciting horror plays to drag us kicking and screaming out of our comfort zone and into a deeper and exciting performance.

We will also have weekly workshops on various topics and techniques to help actors approach alternative stories and emotionally heightened text.

What can you expect?

• Horror Scene Study (monologues or scenes depending on the wants and needs of the participants)
• Introductory Movement Workshop: Using aspects of Viewpoints, Laban Technique, and play to unlock character
• Autopsy: A script breakdown workshop working with alternative, heightened, and challenging texts

Who is this class intended for?

• Performers 18+ who are excited to work with horror text and are interested in making bold choices in a safe and welcoming environment.
• Performers who want to break out of their comfort zone and embrace their inner final girl (or horror villain) 

Please note: Due to our emphasis on horror narratives, the subject matter of scenes discussed and performed in the class could include potentially sensitive topics. You will have an opportunity during the signup process to let us know of any topics you’d rather avoid. But be aware. Anything you’ve seen in a horror movie may show up at BITN.

Attendance Policy:

In order to get the most out of your work with us, our students should make showing up to every class on time a priority.

Your scene partners rely on you being there. 

If you are running late (it happens) please let your instructor know as soon as possible.

Make-up classes are not offered. Please ensure before you sign up that you are able to attend every class.

If a student withdraws more than 14 days before the first class, they are eligible for a full refund.

If a student withdraws less that 14 days but more that 7 days before the first class, they are eligible for a 75% refund.

If a student withdraws less than 7 days before the first class, they are not eligible for a refund.
